Youth Initiatives

United Way of Quinte is making a concentrated effort toward the creation of a strong Youth Engagement Strategy.  We have launched the “You(th) Live here too” program name and logo that will be used to establish programming, initiatives, and engagement strategies for youth in the Hastings and Prince Edward communities.

We currently have a youth designated seat on our Board of Directors, work closely with both School Boards and Loyalist College to engage their students in our programs like Caring for Others, have developed social media strategies to communicate with our young people in a fashion to which they're accustomed.

We recognize the challenges that young people face in our community; we also respect that today’s youth are far more sophisticated in their quest for knowledge than any other generation before them. They want to protect themselves,  they crave information about the world around them and they are better positioned to demand services that respond to their needs and wants than ever before.

These groups of young people are indeed our leaders of tomorrow; we celebrate their independence, their perspectives and all that their youth offers.  With that celebration comes the responsibility to empower;  to offer them the tools necessary to make healthy choices for themselves and their peers.

United Way of Quinte will continue to use the “You(th) live her too” program to capitalize on unique and innovative opportunities to serve and engage our community’s rising generation.

If you have an idea on how we can engage youth or if you're a young person looking to get involved with United Way, please contact Amy Watkins at 613-962-9531 or awatkins @unitedwayofquinte.ca
