A pilot project of United Way of Quinte and Quinte Labour Council, the Worker’s Help Centre is open to unionized and non-unionized employees requiring assistance with any number of employment issues including EI or WSIB claims.  The centre also advises individuals on health and safety issues and workplace concerns.  Workers can be linked with available employment, upgrading and other community services through the various workshops, referrals and training opportunities provided. Open every Saturday from 9am to 3pm.

The purpose of the program is to teach individuals and families how to be self sufficient for the first 72 hours after a disaster such as the ice storm of 1998 and the more recent Foxboro flood.  By providing participants a list of supplies they should have on hand in their home and vehicle including how much food and water they would need to have stored for their family.

The Good Back Pack Program provides elementary aged school children in Hastings and PrinceEdwardCounties with grade appropriate school supplies so they can start the school year on par with their peers; armed with the tools necessary to create a positive learning environment.  Any area child entering JK to grade 8 qualifies to purchase a backpack.
