The Jack Hartling Volunteer of the Year Award presented to Danny Nickle
Like many not-for-profit organizations the success of United Way of Quinte relies heavily on our exceptional volunteers. Each year we acknowledge one volunteer who continues to play a significant role in the success of our annual campaign. This year we are ecstatic to announce tht Mr. Danny Nickle is the recipient of The Jack Hartling Volunteer of the Year Award. Danny has been employed with Procter and Gamble since 1979 and has been a member of the P&G United Way workplace committee for over 30 years! He is also a member of United Way of Quinte's Board of Directors and sits on additional committees within our organization. Danny's untiring dedication and exceptional allegiance and selflessness make him the perfect candidate for this award. Through his selflessness and compassion he continues to raise the standard for himself and the people he is engaged with. Danny, thank you for your extraordinary efforts in helping us exceed this year's goal!

Outstanding Commitment Awards
This year we would like to recognize a number of organizations fo their outstanding commitment to United Way of Quinte. Through several different methods these workplaces have cultivated a spirit of United Way "ism" whereby giving back and supporting the community has become the standard. Examples of this include encouraging their employees to sit on our Board of Directors, becoming members of ou cabinet, working at our events and community sales, ensuring each and every one of their employees is asked to participate and given the opportunity to contribute, hosting events on our behalf and coordinating their own events in support of United Way of Quinte.
This philosophy is not something that happens overnight. It takes immense effort and energy on the part of many individuals to ensure the ongoing success of a workplace campaign when there are so many other priorities within their own business model. The "Outstanding Commitment to United Way of Quinte' Awards were presented to:
Avaya, Belleville Police Service, Best Buy, CN Railway, City of Quinte West, Community Living-Belleville and Area, GH Manufacturing, Nestle, Procter and Bamble, Veridian Connections and 8 Wing CFB Trenton
We received an email from one of the teachers at Quinte Secondary School indicating some of the leadership students and student council members wanted to hold a fundraiser at one of the football games that was taking place under the lights this fall. These students transformed the entire area with United Way banners, strings of white lights and balloons. There was a band playing and tents set up with pizza and beverage vendors and jumpy castles for younger children in attendance. It was an incredible act of organization and community spirit. They were able to raise a significant amount of money for United Way of Quinte that night. They were also able to display the energy and commitment that the youth of this community have for those less fortunate than themselves. We would like to thank these students especially Nathan Stanzel, Brooke Babcock, Jaqueline Wood and Saki Kubotera. We also applaud teachers Melanie Thompson, Scott Shortly and Gary Parcels for encouraging and mentoring these students and providing them with the tools they need to become thoughtful, engaging young adults who understand the importance of supporting others.
United way of Quinte is thrilled to recognize Mr. Maurice Rollins. Mr. Rollins has been a long time partner and advocate for a number of social service organiztions in the Qinte area including United Way of Quinte for many, many years. All of us at United Way of Quinte feel very privileged to be one of the many organizations that Mr. Rollins has provided such tremendous support to over the years.
At United Way of Quinte we have aprogram called the Maurice Rollins Leadership Challenge Fund. Each first time donation of $1000 or more to United Way fo Quinte is matched dollar for dollar by Mr. Rollins. Mr. Rollin's gracious donation up to $25,000 allows these donors to double the impact of their gift. Mr. Rollins, on behalf of United Way fo Quinte, we thank you for your generosity and compassion. We are truly fortunate to be a recipient of your humanitarian efforts.
